Langtang Trek

According to legend, this valley was discovered by a Lama following a runway Yak "Lang"= Yak and "Tang=Follw" in Tibetan. this area lies north of Kathmandu and is inhabited by Tibetan descendants with their unique culture. The peaks of Langtang, Dorje Lakpa Lirung Gangchhengbu etc. can be observed.

Starting from Kathmandu you drive from about seven hours to Sybrubesi from where you walk a little while to Chongon. From Chongong the route proceeds northwest towards Kyanjin Gompa 3479m via Bagar, while the giant mountains of the Langtang Himal dominate sky line with Langtang Lirung at impressive 7246m. after reaching Kyanjin Gompa you will be able to take a day hike to Langshisha glacier 4084m.The following day there would be a day hike to Yala and thereafter, upon your return, you could visit the monastery at Kyanjin and the government own cheese factory built with swiss assistance.The factory uss milk from a cross between a yak and cow to produce cheese for consumption in Kathamndu and the surrounding areas. The return route is slightly different coming back to Kathmandu via l Lamahotel and Sybrubesi from where you will drive back to Kathmandu
